EMPOWERING ATHLETES AND COACHES TO ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL

ADVOCACY
We at the IHSHA aim to bring together a consortium of coaches and athletes meant to organize and advocate to the relevant organizing bodies in the state of Indiana to provide more exposure and opportunity for throwers who want to learn and compete in the hammer throw and to help new and existing clubs add hammer throw to their clubs.
FOUR CORE PRINCIPLES

SAFETY
When performed, coached and supervised with a foundation of safety, the hammer throw can be enjoyed by all.
We plan to develop resources meant to teach parents, coaches, and administrators how to enjoy learning and competing the safe way.
Confused on where to start learning the hammer throw? Explore this area to find the ABC's of the hammer, how to practice when you are constrained by facilities, and many other getting started resources.
IHSHA is also committed to expanding the number of coaches in our state who can expertly and safely teach the hammer throw.

EDUCATION

HISTORY
IHSHA aims to take a complete history of the top boy and girl hammer throwers in Indiana high school history in all relevant competitive weight categories. Boys: 12 pound, 6 kilogram, 16 pound. Girls: 3 kilogram and 4 kilogram.
It is our hope that these lists will motivate young throwers so that the state of Indiana can have as many entries as possible on the all time top 75 performers list. Currently, we have none.
